UDC: A UNIFIED SYSTEM FOR DISTRIBUTION OF EDUCATIONAL RESOURCES

The issues with and potential solutions to the nation’s uneven distribution of educational facilities across various communities are covered in this article.

Here are problems we have identified:

  • Inadequate information about the needs of the less privileged schools
  •  Poor data structure for schools that are registered in a community
  • The lackadaisical attitude from underdeveloped schools about their development
  • Mismanagement of equipment and facilities amongst distributors
  • Flawed transportation system to transport equipment across various parts of the nation

UNIFIED DISTRIBUTION CHAIN

Introduction: The UNIFIED DISTRIBUTION CHAIN, aka UDC, is a centralized network of various NGOs that work on giving back to  communities, so they can share opportunities and ideas on how to achieve their aim and objectives on a larger platform. Although this idea was designed to work for various NGOs, we will be focusing our discussion in line with the topic to be discussed, which has to do with educational facilities and equipment.

The UDC serves as a platform where NGOs network and share opportunities that will benefit the other NGOs in a specific capacity. An example is The hive network, an NGO based in Benin city that received a donation of 200 computers to distribute to their community in which they have more than or no need for it because they are NGOs that do not work in line with improving education. Still, they connected with the head of the Yattiyr scholarship foundation based in Kwara state that works to improve the education standard in rural communities.

UDC is an opportunity for them to share this opportunity with organizations that need it and get the credit for it. In contrast, the other organization get accolades for the proper distribution.

HOW DOES IT WORK

The UDC is proposed to be a website where various NGOs sign up based on categories in the sense that NGOs that work on improving education sign up in their appropriate category, this helps to put arrangement and opportunities in order.

CORE COMPONENTS OF UDC

These components will work on the earlier mentioned problems.

  • A substantial number of NGOs signed up
  • Government Bodies
  • Logistic body
  • A standard regulatory body

The NGOs are an essential component of this project, and we believe a substantial number needs to
have signed up for this before it can kick start. NGOs are the first related to the schools within the
community that get to know their needs and communicate or advocate for them through the UDC
website. The information these bodies give on the UDC and with the systems algorithm that present
them with related opportunities they can apply for.
Government bodies : of high importance are the grass-root governmental bodies that easily relate to the challenges facing the schools in the community and also tender the information and the needs of the community schools brought to them to the higher governmental bodies. This ease the chain of
communication and gives a faster response to problems. The problems indicated here include policymaking and how the school operates, which would open them more opportunities. An example is a school that has an online presence  tends to get more chances than others who don’t.

The need for a logistics body is also highly essential because they serve as an intermediary in the
transportation of the equipment and help in the planning of building necessary facilities in the approved
schools. One of the earlier problems stated was the poor transportation system. The logistics body is an
essential part of this problem as they will help find the best possible means by which equipment
get to the appropriate destination in good shape.

Like every organization, there should be rules and regulations that govern their operations, and the
regulatory body is a centralized body that oversees  this project.
The laws approve every transaction and ensure the implementation of every deal that goes through this
platform by monitoring. They also provide legitimacy to every NGO registered under this platform.

THE UDC AND SOLVING PROBLEMS.

Information on less privileged schools: The UDC provide information on schools based on what has been reported from NGOs that are under the system and also share the opportunities based on their needs using the systems algorithm

Poor data structures for underprivileged schools: Every NGO that signed with the UDC provides information about schools within their community, which the regulatory body also considered before approving.

Mismanagement of facilities and equipment: as earlier mentioned,  the regulatory bodies monitor every one of their beneficiaries to ensure that opportunities are only given to the school to make the best out of what is provided to them and not vandalize the facilities.

Poor equipment transportation: The platform has its own logistics body that is well trusted and will solve this problem. It will ensure the proper transport of equipment through the best possible means.
